Is a 2008 yamaha yz450f a good bike.?

My friend knows a guy who dad owns team yamaha or something like that. They are going to sell a 2008 yamaha yz450f with brand new graphic kits, black rims and black spokes and blue hubs. Nothing on the bike is stock. Its basically a replica of the bike that bike that chad reed used to race.He selling it for 4,000 dollars because he is getting the 09 yz450f. Is this a good deal..

There is nothing wrong with the yz450f as a bike, but I would use caution if the bike is being sold off by the owner of team yamaha. You would really need to check that the bike has not been used as a training bike for any of the better riders as even though it may have lots of added extras, it could well be very tired if used this way.
So as long as you do some homework and check the bike is really what it seems you should be okay.
My own son is selling his crf150r which he raced with a great deal of success this year at National level and heaps of people are putting their hand up to own it, but to be honest I know the bike has worked its butt off this year and those who think that if they put their child on the bike he will win at national level would be in for a surprise as the bike is really quite tired. So don't let yourself be fooled.
