Duty Rear
Oct/090
Have an Impala02 need to change the rear struts?
trying to figure out if I can interchange them with something more heavy duty like a trucks struts or a police interceptor cruisers struts, since I live out on a dirt road and need reliable suspension. Any info would be highly appreciated, also is this a big penny cost to have them worked on?
You need to purchase Monroe "Quick Struts" from Advance Auto.
By now you also need the upper mounts and springs.
The quick struts are 100% complete, no spring compressor is needed. Just 4 nuts on top and 2 bolts on the knuckle which you unbolt by taking the nut loose and then hammer the splined bolt out of the knuckle. The struts have 2 chambers that take care of the big bumps as well as the small repatisious ones. The springs are also much stronger than stock. The ones I put in my Grand Prix GTP are too strong and I can load 600 lbs, of old brake rotors in the trunk with out any sag.
