Playstation Netflix help!?

For the PS3 i got netflix instant streaming. Its where you ust put the disc in and you can stream movies to your playstation. I was wondering how long it takes for a movie to be uploaded to netflix. I wanted to watch The Hurt Locker. I saw that the DVD was released in January 2010, but it still can't be streamed to my ps3 in September 2010. Why is that!

Some studios require Netflix to not make a movie available for streaming, usually for a set amount of time. It depends on the movie, and depends on the studio.

If a movie is old enough, and it becomes popular enough, Netflix will make it available for streaming.

Studios do not want people to wait for the DVD (or Blu-ray) release, then only pay $9 from Netflix to be able to stream it. Studios can't make money this way. If Netflix is required to buy the DVD (which they are, at a discounted rate) and not able to stream it, then the studio still makes money. If Netflix streams without a studio's blessing, then the studio will stop giving Netflix a discount on DVDs, and that just isn't good business sense.

It all revolves around money, and Netflix does what the studios want, the reason they are able to allow DVDs and streaming at a low price. Netflix does not give out the information on when a title will become available for streaming, so your options are to wait until that happens, or to order the DVD.
