What are the pros and cons of slot over standard disc rotors?
I would like to have a rotor that has a better style for an open wheel rim, but I still want the reliability and longevity of the standard rotor with equal or better braking performance. What do you think?
Indy cars ran slotted / drilled dics back in the early 60.'s. the purpose was twofold , create an area where moisture could displace itself.......and reduction of reciprocating weight.... elimination of heat was not noticed so all calipers / rotors were vent ducted.......for streetuse I can't see a noticeable gain in any area other than cosmetics....and for some people that means a lot ......more important item ..... do not cheap out on the pads ..... buy a reputable bi-metalic composition.... make sure your rotors are true... and piston / pistons are free in caliper houseings.....hope this helps a bit....Daryl
