Which derailleur to get?
I currently have a road bike that i have been using a shimano tourney rear derailleur on. but i want to up grade to a better derailleur.
the options i have been looking at is a Sora or alivio (or deore)
so i have a few questions. the tourney has a chain wrap of 43 but a mid cage sora only has a wrap of 37max so would i need to shorten the chain or not?
which would you recommend i go with
the deore or alivio which would be just replace and go
or
the sora(mid cage) but i don't know if i may need to shorten the chain, and largest cog 1 tooth over recommended?
my stats are
triple chain ring 28-38-48
7speed cassette hub(not a freewheel) 11-28
chain wrap = 37
I think a Alivio or Deore would work a little better, Touring bikes usually go with a mountain bike derailleur to go with the larger gear range. If your Tourney has a mount attached you will have to buy a mount adapter.
